Slender Shoulders

Full disclosure: I have the flattest chest known to mankind, so plunging necklines and whatnot don't usually do the trick when I want to show a little skin. I love the effect of these casually cut-out shoulders — they're subtle and sensual, the skin-revealing equivalent of locking eyes and sharing a small smile from across the room (as opposed to grinding up on a dude and assaulting him in a beer-fueled haze). Maybe I'll sacrifice an old tee for the cause. It seems like it requires a cool factor much greater than anything I could muster, though... what are your thoughts?

La Mer

I feel so refreshed, finally! It was eighty degrees and sunny for most of Sunday, so we wandered out to Lake Michigan and studied (read: napped, chatted, people-watched). I also treated myself to a terribly overpriced white chocolate and raspberry bar, which was so delicious and rich and necessary. I gave up cheese for Lent in an effort to cut down on the tons and tons of saturated fat that I eat, but as it turns out, I've just been replacing it with chocolate. Still, it was so nice to get a little sun and catch up on work.

Speaking of which, a career coach at the career services office recommended that we spend at least an hour a day on our job hunt. At my rate, I could be job-hunting for eight people. And, once I do get a job (fingers crossed knock on wood wishing on a shooting star), I'm probably going to troll the job listings anyway. For fun. Which is sick. As are these fragmented sentences.

But how was your weekend?!

Say Yes...

Yes to pastries and espresso.
Yes to Ellen Degeneres...
...and her cameo in Harry Potter.
Yes to softly budding trees.
Yes to cheese...
Yes to a haircut soon. Please. Maybe this? Or a bob?
Yes to the sound of rain on a spring evening.

Rose Colored

A swipe of bright lipstick, a steamy latte, and a stroll to class. By lipstick I mean Kiehl's coconut-flavored lip balm, by latte I mean green tea, and by stroll, I mean sprint. Perhaps I'll indulge this weekend, when I'll be back to catch up on blogs (both reading yours and writing mine) and homework. I'm also thinking that I need to set aside at least twenty-four hours that will not be spent searching for and applying to jobs, even if only for the sake of my sanity. On the bright side, today's Thursday! Which happens to be my favorite day of the week, as Friday is over too quickly to savor. Have a beautiful day!

So It Goes

I've been so heinous about posting lately, but I have this recent and very uncomfortable addiction to applying to any job for which I'm vaguely qualified. In the words of Vonnegut, so it goes. Sorry about any and all unanswered emails and messages.  I'll be back on the map soon, I promise!

April Showers

April has kicked off on the dreary side, but I'm so excited to wear my navy Hunter rainboots and splash around in puddles. I had a weekend full of late-night dancing, catching up with good friends, and reading Jhumpa Lahiri's short stories (Interpreter of Maladies, to be specific, which won the Pulitzer Prize — absolutely beautiful). What are your plans for this week? I'm going to read for class, then read for pleasure, and finally wander out to the edge Lake Michigan when the weather brightens up. Happy Monday!
