Rose Colored

A swipe of bright lipstick, a steamy latte, and a stroll to class. By lipstick I mean Kiehl's coconut-flavored lip balm, by latte I mean green tea, and by stroll, I mean sprint. Perhaps I'll indulge this weekend, when I'll be back to catch up on blogs (both reading yours and writing mine) and homework. I'm also thinking that I need to set aside at least twenty-four hours that will not be spent searching for and applying to jobs, even if only for the sake of my sanity. On the bright side, today's Thursday! Which happens to be my favorite day of the week, as Friday is over too quickly to savor. Have a beautiful day!

Caramel Cafe

Finally back in Chicago after a whirlwind spring break! Today is my last first day of classes ever and I'm so excited for spring quarter, new classes, and sunny skies (a lot of the professors like to have class outside and under the trees when it's warm out, which is my favorite thing ever). It also makes me feel incredibly old and unprepared, but I'm trying very hard not to focus on that. I'll be spending the first few days replying to emails and settling in with classes — I love getting back into the groove of things.

What's on your agenda for this fresh, new week?

White, Black, & Caramel

How awesome is that model's hair?! From this angle, it looks like the lovechild of the short Freja Beha Erichsen crop and a ladylike chignon, and I just cannot get enough of it. I'd wax poetic about it a little more, but I'm currently up to my ears in papers and essays and short stories. On the bright side, all of this work is worth the excuse to stay in and curl up with a cup of tea and Adele's new album. I love this time of year; there's all of the coziness of winter, but with the hope that breezy days are just around the corner. Here's to a lovely March!

Sweater Weather

It might be unbelievably steamy in New York, but I can't help getting all dreamy about the cozy sweaters out for fall. It doesn't help that I'm a sucker for grey and dusty blues, but still — how ready are you for sweater weather?

A Monday Stroll

This weekend, I read a sweet article about how the French have twelve synonyms for the word "wandering." I'm from New York and completely fulfill the stereotype that we walk extremely fast, always rushing from one place to another and never without a set destination, whether it be a new falafel place or just the 4 train from 86th and Lex. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I walked aimlessly, simply meandering through the streets. Now that I'm aware of this, does aimless strolling count if you're doing so consciously — how aimless can it be? So tell me, do you ever walk around simply for the sake of taking in the colors around you and breathing in the warm summer air?

Dreamland

Taking a short respite from my J Crew saga to share these beautiful photos by Ditte Isager with you on this shady Thursday morning (found via Creature Comforts). Couldn't you just imagine waking up in one of these beds, surrounded by leafy trees and misty waterfalls? I could sit there for hours on end and be perfectly pleased and amused just by looking around me. Also, that lamp in the first photo just kills me (in a good way). It's the perfect touch.
