Typeface Maps

How fantastic are these typeface maps by Axismaps (via Fast Co Design)? I love how they include the different neighborhoods, which is especially helpful in Chicago, where all of the neighborhoods blend in and overlap. They're hand-drawn, too, which makes the detail in them that much more incredible. So far, only Chicago and Boston are available, but New York City, San Francisco, and Washington DC are on the way. Of COURSE it doesn't matter that I only go to San Francisco once every few years.

Pops of Color

I love how bright hues sneak their way in amidst the dark neutrals of autumn and look so good doing it. I can't decide which is better — those elbow patches or the deconstructed coat. Even with these cheeky details, the lipstick red and emerald green steal the show and allow a transition into fall without losing any of summer's boldness.

Why Not...

...spend the weekend in an elegant slip, sipping espresso and unwrapping delicate sea salt caramels, and hanging memories on a wall? As for myself, I wandered through the farmers' market and found myself some fresh raspberry jam, as well as a block of tomato and basil Monterey Jack cheese. Hopefully, I'll find the chance to go to this exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art, but in the event that it rains, I'll just kick it around Evanston in my new navy Hunter rainboots. Hope your weekend is as dreamy as my own!
