Emmauelle Alt can do it, and so can you! A half-tucked shirt that doesn't seem messy or careless has always eluded me, although my affection for worn cotton tees may have contributed to this. When my tee is half-tucked, I look like I'd might as well give up and roll back into bed. However, I adore the idea of a top half-tucked into a pair of shorts for summer. Here are two ways to pull this off:
1. Take a note from Emmanuelle Alt and accessorize consciously: it's difficult to look like a slob if you're also wearing an embellished leather jacket and thigh-high boots. Oh, has the temperature increased by 50 degrees in the past three days (cough Chicago cough)? A belt, a few bracelets and a sweet pair of aviators do the trick; together, they show the thought and care put into the ensemble.
2. Upgrade from the plain tee: silk blouses or oversized button-downs offer a little breathing room, which is perfect for hot summer days. I love to pair silk tanks by Joie with denim shorts and flat sandals. It's still a casual and effortless look, but the material and cut of the tank lend a much-needed dose of polish.

I LOVE the half tucked look, and girls and guys [with a white t-shirt perhaps?] it shows off the belt and it's lovely!

I seriously love this look. I'm thinking I have the 'wrong' kinds of shirts though. I try this all the time but feel like it's too tucked in or not enough, it just doesn't work. I'm officially on a search for theeee perfect shirt to 1/2 tuck.
Thanks for more inspiration.

I rock the half tuck.
I like this look a lot! There's something very chic and casual about it. Now that I'm back in LA, I can definitely see me trying this look.
Thanks for the style tips!
I absolutely love this look and I started my day with a half- tucked silk blush shirt and khaki pants (almost identical outfit to the last photo) but then when I got to the office I tucked it all in. I don't think this look was professional enough for my somewhat conservative office.
This is definitely my summer uniform! I think a half-tucked loose tee with shorts looks better than an untucked loose tee any day. You are definitely right about the accessories- I think a belt is a must.
Love the rocker-chic look of a half-tucked shirt and leather pants...if only i owned leather pants (or shorts for that matter)!
